On Thursday evening, as the sun set over Manhattan on the third day of Frieze New York, guests converged on the 12th floor of NeueHouse for what promised to be an evening unlike anything in recent memory: a live performance by Philip Glass Ensemble, the first live performance by the group in over a year.
Performing in the round, the Ensemble performed a selection of Glass’ most iconic works to a rapt crowd. Perhaps due to the momentousness of the occasion, or perhaps to check up on the ensemble bearing his name, Glass himself was spotted in the audience. Like the rest of us, he seemed as glad to be rejoining an audience and experiencing live music as the rest of us.
